  I love how the Air Force Lt. Colonel refers to the event as a "transfer". Like it's an everyday thing.
  Like "Hey, we know what we are doing every minute".

    There seemed to be a comedy of errors with this, because it wasn't just the person who handled the missiles, but a few people, including the pilot should have noticed that something wasn't quite right. I guess they were just obeying orders.

      the nukes were right out there on the wings, and they are anything but indistinct.
      
      Plus nukes are supposed to be guarded at all times, hence the 3.5 hrs. "lost".
